According to the Business Journal of the Greater Triad area, North Carolina food stamp recipients number approximately 1.5 million. That makes North Carolina the 10th highest state in the nation for people receiving SNAP benefits.

Overall, about 43.6 million people in america are using food stamps to supplement their income.
